Learn Portuguese (Português)
Practise Portuguese with an AI tutor that explains why
Portuguese looks close to Spanish on paper and sounds quite different. The vowels shift, the little words merge together and Portugal and Brazil do not always agree. YaP is the place to practise between your lessons, ask the questions you didn't have time for in class and learn the Portuguese that matters to you.
Speak or type to the tutor. It answers in Portuguese, corrects what matters, explains the rule and asks you to try again.
European or Brazilian
Tell the tutor "fala comigo como em Lisboa" and you get European Portuguese - reduced unstressed vowels, "tu" with its full conjugation for friends and family, and the vocabulary you hear in Porto and Lisbon. Tell the tutor "fala comigo como em São Paulo" and you get Brazilian Portuguese, with its open vowels, "você" in most of the country, and "estou fazendo" where Portugal says "estou a fazer".
You can switch mid-session. The tutor will follow.

- Brazilian
What a session looks like
After class. Your teacher covered em and de tonight and it half made sense. You open a lesson and ask for more examples. Then you ask why it's "no Brasil" but "em Portugal". The tutor explains that em and de merge with the article that follows (em + o = no, de + a = da), and that some country names take an article and others do not: o Brasil and a França, but Portugal on its own. It gives you a few more to try and corrects you as you go. The lesson is saved with a date and a description, so you can find it again before next week's class.
What you care about. Your grandmother came from the Azores and you want to talk to her sister on video calls. You ask the tutor to help you prepare. You learn that she is your tia-avó, your great-aunt, that saudade is the longing for someone or somewhere you miss, and that "tenho saudades" is how you tell someone you miss them. Then you practise telling her about your family. Every new word is saved as a flashcard for review.
Or the Brazilian music you love, the colleagues in São Paulo, the friends in Lisbon. Whatever you need, YaP follows.

Who it is for
You're learning Portuguese properly, not just for a holiday. Maybe you're in evening classes, working with a tutor or picking up a family language again. Perhaps you have family or friends in Portugal or Brazil, a love of the music, the food or the football, or plans to spend more time there.
You don't need to follow anyone else's order. Jump from this week's chapter back to the basics, or straight to the words you need tomorrow. YaP follows you and remembers everything.
